McKayla Maroney‘s father recalled in a Wall Street Journal story published Friday the moment that haunts him: convicted sexual predator, former Michigan State University and former Team USA doctor Larry Nassar saying “I love your daughter.”

Mike Maroney said that he is tormented by a moment in 2012 that “gave me the creeps.
He said Nassar, while at the National Gymnastic Championships in St. Louis, said to him “I love your daughter.” The father also said watching his daughter help Team USA win gold at the 2012 Olympics used to be “the greatest moment of [his] life.”
“When I think about it now, it makes me want to throw up,” he said.
Elsewhere in the story, WSJ described in upsetting detail the crimes committed by Nassar against McKayla Maroney.
Nassar removed her clothes while she was disoriented from a sleeping pill, put his fingers inside of her and rubbed his erect penis against her body.
The world class gymnast revealed the abuse she suffered in October 2o17.
