According to a news release from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to a residence on Burke Lane after receiving a 911 call reporting a medical emergency. Brick Township is about a 65-mile drive south of Manhattan. Upon arriving, first responders said they found a 2-year-old boy who appeared to be suffering from "a stab wound to his chest." Emergency medical personnel reached the scene a short while later and rushed the child to nearby Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said the victim suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries and was listed as being in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
