Jordan Holgerson, 16, survived a 6o-foot drop after a friend shoved her off a bridge near Moulton Falls in Washington State. She survived, but suffered five broken ribs and injuries to a lung and leg, according to KOIN.
You can see it happen in the footage above. Holgerson stands as if to jump into the Lewis River, but appears ready to back off. Even so, another person shoves her clean off the bridge. Bystanders scream. The actual moment of impact isn’t caught on footage, but you can see her crash create a ripple in the water.
She told KATU that she saw people jump from the bridge, and she decided that she wanted to try that.
“[My friend] came up to the bridge with me, and I was taking too long, so I was getting scared,” she said from her hospital bed. “It was a really tall bridge, and so she was counting down, but I didn’t think anything of it, and I was like, ‘No, don’t count down. I won’t go if you count down. I’m not ready.’ And then, she pushed me.”
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, Sgt. Brent Waddell told The Oregonian.
“Friends don’t push someone from that high, so I was pissed,” her sister Kaytlin Holgerson told KOIN.
Their mother Genelle, a medical assistant, told The Longview Daily News that injuries are not permanent. She identified the pusher as an adult.
“I’m very upset with her,” she said. “She is an adult, and I’m sure she should have known better. She could have killed my daughter.”
Meanwhile, Kaytlin told KOIN she confronted this person on social media for an apology.
“She pretty much said that she was sorry for doing it and she wouldn’t have done it if she knew the outcome of it and that she knows it was an absurd thing to do,” she said, but added that there should be consequences for the person.
