A Florida woman was arrested after police said she crashed into a parked car — then punched the car's owner.
Elizabeth Boucher, 24, faces several felony charges including DUI and battery after police said she was drunk when she caused a car crash in Daytona Beach, Florida. According to an arrest affidavit, officers from the Daytona Beach Police Department responded to calls about a crash on the night of Aug. 30. Police said dispatchers told them the driver who allegedly caused the crash, later identified as Boucher, was "knocking on doors" in the neighborhood before attempting to leave the scene.
Officers arrived at the scene and found Boucher standing on the side of the road, allegedly showing signs of intoxication.
Police said Boucher smelled of alcohol, had "difficulty standing," and was swaying. When asked for her driver's license, Boucher provided a passport. She was asked for her license again and handed an officer her purse. The officers asked for her to provide her license, and Boucher allegedly "stated she was hot" and tried to get into a patrol vehicle.
According to the affidavit, Boucher told police that she was "never going to get pulled over again," and it was explained to her that she had not been pulled over. Police informed her that she was in a crash, and she reportedly "appeared surprised." Boucher then asked the officer to bring her to her vehicle after "all the officers left."
Another officer made contact with the owner of the car, who lived in a house nearby and said her neighbor called her to tell her someone had crashed into her car. When the woman came outside to confront Boucher, she told police she saw Boucher get out of her Ford Bronco from the passenger side then try to get back in on the driver's side. The woman stopped Boucher from leaving, which led to an argument between the two women.
According to the affidavit, Boucher got out of her Bronco and allegedly "struck" the woman on the side of the face with a closed fist. The woman then allegedly punched Boucher in the face, which sent her falling to the ground. Boucher then got up and allegedly followed the woman up to her front porch, where she attempted to strike her again, but was shoved back down by the woman.
When Boucher was arrested, she allegedly refused to speak with police and did not submit to a breath test. Boucher allegedly attempted to walk away from officers and resisted being taken into custody. In body camera video released by the Daytona Beach Police Department, Boucher said to the officers, "I thought we were all friends."
Boucher was charged with DUI with property damage, resisting an officer without violence, battery, and possession of a Schedule II substance. She was released from jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21.
