A 36-year-old member of the U.S. Navy was arrested over the weekend for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face at a hotel in Florida celebrating his promotion to chief petty officer.

Kyle Rogemoser was taken into custody Saturday evening and charged with one count of domestic battery causing bodily harm, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department medical personnel with Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to a call at the DoubleTree Hotel in the 1200 block of Riverplace Boulevard at 12:24 a.m. on Saturday about a female being assaulted.

A deputy found Rogemoser walking in the lobby after a witness pointed him out. The deputy noted blood was visible on Rogemoser's neck and took him into custody.

In the mug shot taken after his arrest, Rogemoser appears to have three scratch marks and blood on the left side of his neck.

Deputies said Rogemoser was extremely drunk during his arrest.

"I read the suspect his Miranda Rights via card. The suspect stated that he did not understand his rights," the deputy wrote in the affidavit. "I attempted multiple times to ask the suspect which part of the Miranda Rights he did not understand with negative results. It should be noted that the suspect was extremely intoxicated."

Rogemoser's girlfriend told deputies she arrived at the hotel at 5 p.m. because there was a "celebratory dinner at the hotel for the suspect's promotion to Chief in the Navy," and the two shared a drink. They planned to spend the evening at the hotel to celebrate the promotion.

At some point, she and Rogemoser argued, and she claimed he "punched her in the mouth three times." She called for help, and someone knocked on the door, came in, picked her up, and took her downstairs to the manager's office until authorities arrived.

The girlfriend — whose name is redacted from the document — told investigators she wanted her injuries photographed. Deputies said they could see red marks on her chin and neck and "what appeared to be fresh blood on her bottom lip."

The witness who helped the victim said he was walking down the hall when he heard someone scream for help.

"He knocked on the door, and the victim answered," the affidavit states. "He observed her on the floor crying with red marks on her face. He picked her up and brought her down to management."

Rogemoser was booked into jail and released on Tuesday after posting a surety bond of $5,003, according to online jail records. He is set to appear for his arraignment on Oct. 31.
