A Florida mother allegedly assaulted her daughter's elementary school teacher and principal during the first week of school after they would not let her inside to retrieve the girl's backpack left behind in a classroom.

Lynesia Dorsey is facing a charge of battery on a school employee.

The probable cause arrest affidavit said the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at Turie T. Smalls Elementary School in Daytona Beach. Dorsey walked up to her daughter's teacher after school let out for the day. The teacher was standing at the school entrance and Dorsey said she wanted to go inside to look for the girl's backpack.

But the teacher said the school was not letting any parents inside during the first week "due to all staffing being needed to ensure the safety of the students." Dorsey apparently did not like this policy and started arguing with the teacher.

As the teacher refused to budge, Dorsey allegedly punched the educator several times in the face. The school principal tried to hold Dorsey back and the defendant allegedly punched him as well, cops wrote. Surveillance video captured the incident, the affidavit said.

Eventually, the school resource officer arrived on scene and separated everyone. Both the teacher and principal suffered minor injuries, including bruises and cuts. Dorsey hurt her wrist and received a cut on her elbow.

She admitted to cops that she attacked the teacher but only did so because she felt that he "leaned on" her and her daughter.
