A Florida man brought his 5-year-old daughter and their dog to a bar a little before 9 p.m., tracked down his girlfriend, then shot her while they were "arguing" outside and drove over her body, according to police. Body camera footage shows the moment deputies caught up with the dad and child, who was allegedly in the car with their dog during the attack.

"My daughter's in there," Christopher Smith, 40, can be heard telling deputies on the body camera video, released by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

"My doggy!" the daughter can be heard crying as deputies remove her from Smith's vehicle.

Smith surrendered to deputies without incident after shooting his 30-year-old girlfriend and running her over near Harbor Bar in Safety Harbor on Tuesday night, according to police.

Police dash camera footage showed deputies pursuing Smith before he stopped his car and stepped out with his hands raised.

"Get on the ground now!" deputies shout as they move in on Smith, who complied and lowered himself to the ground while alerting officers to his daughter's presence.

"I'm submissive, okay?" Smith tells them. "I'm not gonna give you any problems."

According to the sheriff's office, Smith told deputies he did not know where the gun he used to shoot his girlfriend was, claiming it was probably in the car.

Multiple 911 calls from witnesses on Tuesday night reported the shooting and described Smith's vehicle. Deputies located him a short time later, the sheriff's office said.

"According to detectives, at approximately 8:45 p.m., 40-year-old Christopher 'Dodge' Smith entered Harbor Bar, leaving his five-year-old daughter and their dog in the parking lot," a PCSO press release alleges. "Smith later exited the bar with his girlfriend, 30-year-old Jessica Antolini, and the two were observed arguing outside. During the altercation, Smith shot Antolini before fleeing the scene in his vehicle with his daughter and dog. As he fled, Smith ran over Antolini with his vehicle."

Smith is charged with first-degree attempted murder and child abuse. A judge denied bond on the attempted murder charge and ordered him to have no contact with his daughter, who was placed in the care of other family members.

Smith's girlfriend remained in critical condition as of Wednesday evening.
