President Donald Trump‘s long-time personal attorney Michael Cohen has agreed to a closed-door meeting with the Senate Intelligence Committee, BuzzFeed News reported. This comes after Cohen was served with a subpoena as part of the committee’s investigation of ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia.
Cohen is scheduled to meet with the committee on September 19. He is also planning to speak with the House Intelligence Committee, but no date has been set for that hearing at this time.
Cohen has denied allegations that he was connected to any collusion with Russia. An unconfirmed dossier controversially published by BuzzFeed News in January linked him to meetings in Russia and Prague. Cohen insisted that not only were the allegations incorrect, he’s never even been to Prague, and he provided his passport to BuzzFeed to prove it.
More recently, the Trump Organization turned over documents to the House Committee, which included emails to Cohen from Trump associate Felix Sater, where Sater talked about ties to Vladimir Putin. There is no evidence that Cohen responded to these emails.
