Brennan Says Anyone Who Thinks He’s Responsible for Flynn Leaks Is ‘Dead Wrong’

Former CIA Director John Brennan said he’s in no way responsible for the leaks that caused National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to resign.

“Which is why as people point fingers about leaks, I certainly welcome that investigation to stop those leaks because they shouldn’t be taking place, and anybody who thinks I’m responsible for that is dead wrong,” he told CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday.

This comes in response to claims by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-California), the House Intelligence Committee Chairman who is investigating Flynn for potentially illegal contact with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. He claimed that Obama-era officials were leaking to the press.

Brennan served as CIA director from March, 2013 until Trump’s inauguration.

The Washington Post reported in mid-February that Flynn talked to the Russian ambassador about sanctions, and mislead Vice President Mike Pence about the talk. He resigned shortly after.
