A man in North Carolina threatened to kill another driver and her 3-year-old son in a road-rage incident, authorities say.
Christopher John Walters, 48, has been charged with misdemeanor communicating threats, according to court records reviewed by Law&Crime.
The defendant was arrested on Thursday on a charge of assault of a female in a separate case, the Greensboro Police Department said.
On July 31, a woman was driving with her child on Interstate 85 in North Carolina when Walters appeared to grow angry with her. He had cut her off, and she then honked at him, the woman told area CBS affiliate WFMY.
In a video that circulated online, the defendant "appears to have made multiple verbal threats to a Greensboro woman," according to police. He seemingly speeds up to look at the woman and yell.
"You are going to die," the man in the video screams, as well as "I could kill you."
The defendant made each claim three times, according to a warrant issued in the case.
Authorities added that "the threat was made in a manner and under circumstances which would cause reasonable person to believe that the threat was likely to be carried out and the person threatened believed that the threat would be carried out."
The woman called 911 to report the incident, and the Greensboro Police Department filed the report. By the time a detective met with her, Walters was apparently already in the High Point Jail on the other charge.
In that case, the man reportedly pushed a woman in High Point, North Carolina, "into a dresser, causing a bruise to her arm."
The defendant is next scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 8.
