A Florida man from The Villages allegedly bashed his orthopedic surgeon's Tesla with a hammer because his surgery was canceled twice after he disobeyed instructions and drank water.

Glen Lee Ong, 78, stands accused of criminal mischief property damage.

A probable cause arrest affidavit said Wildwood police responded to the Optimotion Orthopedics medical building around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 16. They met with the victim at his 2023 Tesla, which had two "indentations" on the windshield.

The victim was a doctor at the facility and his employees alerted him about damage to the Tesla after hearing two "loud bangs."

Surveillance video showed a man wearing a surgical-style mask walking up to the car with a hammer in his hands. He allegedly struck the windshield twice with the hammer before walking back to his truck and driving away. The strikes caused about $1,600 in damage, according to the affidavit.

Police identified Ong as the suspect, according to the affidavit. The doctor described Ong as a "difficult patient." Ong was upset that his surgeries had been canceled, police said.

Officers spoke with Ong at his home in The Villages. The defendant initially denied being the victim's patient, saying "you got the wrong person."

But then officers confronted him with surveillance photos of Ong's truck.

Ong eventually admitted the vandalism, police said.

"That guy screwed me over twice," Ong said. "I was already dressed up to do the surgery, and he called it off just because I had a sip of water."

Ong said he felt like the surgery could have still been performed.

"I went through all that trouble going down there, having someone take me down there and that f—er turned me down."

Cops wrote Ong told them that the doctor "needed to be held accountable for his actions and that he wanted to teach the victim a lesson." The defendant also allegedly said he removed his license plate before bashing the Tesla so he would not get caught.

Ong was arrested on Oct. 9 and taken to the Sumter County Jail, where he posted bond the next day. His next court date is set for Nov. 3.
