A man who was trying to fix a flat tire on his bicycle ended up being stabbed in the stomach and lost part of his nose in a robbery attempt, Florida authorities say.
Amanda Rupp, 42, stands accused of first-degree attempted murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, court records say.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, two security guards spotted the victim early Sunday in the 4700 block of Broadway Avenue in West Palm Beach.
The victim, 34, was suffering from a stab wound to his upper torso, causing "his stomach to protrude from his body," cops wrote. He also was missing piece of his nose, which was "later recovered at the scene."
The security guards called police. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, where cops later interviewed him.
He told investigators the tire on his bicycle went flat and he was sitting on the ground when a woman, later identified as Rupp, walked up to him and asked him about his bicycle. Then, she repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, screaming "I'm going to kill you!" the affidavit stated.
Cops took Rupp into custody. She tried to say she was the victim.
"That f—ing guy that robbed me," she allegedly told cops.
She claimed he offered his bicycle in exchange for sex, alleging that when she rejected him, he attacked her with a knife and was injured in the ensuing scuffle.
But cops said they reviewed surveillance footage that backed the victim's account. Rupp showed "no remorse" and continued to assault him even after he was stabbed, cops wrote.
Rupp remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. Her next court date is set for Oct. 22.
