A 67-year-old truck driver allegedly said "I'll kill you" and shot a warehouse employee in Florida after an argument about the payload being delivered hours late turned violent.
David Crump is accused of second-degree attempted murder.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at a warehouse in the 1700 block of Boice Pond Road in Orlando.
Witnesses told deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office that they heard two men arguing. One of them, later identified as Crump, allegedly had a gun. The victim punched Crump in the face, the affidavit said. Crump fired at least one shot, which hit the victim in the arm, per cops.
Video also allegedly showed Crump choking the man while screaming "I'll kill you." Crump chased the victim as he ran, then got back in his truck and drove away, the affidavit stated.
Crump, a contractor with Road Dog Logistics, called his bosses to report an "incident" but did not go into details about what transpired, cops wrote. The company tracked the truck via a GPS in the vehicle which showed it traveled through Jacksonville into Georgia.
Deputies with the Glynn County Sheriff's Office spotted the truck and conducted a traffic stop. Crump was taken into custody. He appeared to be the same man in the video who shot the victim, cops said. Investigators noted that Crump was wearing the same necklace seen in the video.
Detectives spoke with the victim, who could not identify Crump as his shooter. He detailed his version of events.
"The victim advised he was at work when a truck driver arrived hours late for his dropoff," deputies wrote.
He told Crump he'd have to wait since the victim was dealing with other clients who were also dropping off payloads. This apparently upset Crump who allegedly walked back to the truck and grabbed a gun.
The victim said he was recording Crump on his phone. Crump allegedly grabbed the victim's neck and phone. The victim tried to run away and that's when Crump raised the gun and shot the victim, the affidavit said.
Paramedics took the victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Crump has since been extradited to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He was appointed a public defender. His next court hearing is on Thursday.
