A California father stabbed a man to death with a pocketknife after "coming home from work early" to find him in bed with the father's's wife and their two young children, according to prosecutors.
Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, is charged with murder after killing 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia inside the family's Anaheim home, located in the 700 block of North Pine Street, on Oct. 24, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office. He allegedly stabbed Garcia to death in front of Pinedalopez's two children.
Prosecutors announced Pinedalopez's charges in a press release Tuesday before his arraignment.
"[Pinedalopez] has been charged with murder for stabbing a romantic rival to death with a pocketknife after coming home from work early to find the man in his underwear in bed with the defendant's wife along with his two young children," the DA's office said.
Prosecutors allege that Pinedalopez returned home early from work Oct. 24 and found Garcia with his wife and the couple's two children, ages 2 and 4, who were not harmed.
It's unclear whether Pinedalopez knew the victim.
Police responded and found Garcia inside the couple's bedroom, which they share with their two children.
He had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to prosecutors.
"Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home," said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer in a statement Tuesday.
Pinedalopez is charged with one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement of personal use of a weapon. He faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted, per the DA's office.
