An Arizona man is suspected of killing his parents and burying them in their backyard after discovering his father was cheating on his mother — and learning that his mom chose to stay with him, cops say.
Hector Flores and Larissa Flores had not been heard from since July 29 when a family member called 911 on Aug. 4 and asked for a welfare check, according to a police report obtained by AZFamily.
The family member told cops that the couple wasn't answering their phones and they agreed to let officers enter their Litchfield Park residence, but stayed outside because he feared "what police would find in the home."
The couple's 27-year-old son, Matthew Christopher Flores Semyonov, was nowhere to be found when officers arrived. Police found large amounts of blood and signs of an attempted cleanup inside the parents' home.
Investigators continued looking around and eventually found Hector Flores and Larissa Flores buried in the backyard. It was later discovered that Flores Semyonov had fled the country, according to the police report.
He was still wanted by authorities as of Wednesday.
"You'll get what's coming to you," the family member who called 911 recalled Flores Semyonov saying before his parents' deaths, according to the police report. He allegedly made several vague and threatening comments like this before Hector and Larissa Flores were found dead.
Flores Semyonov's behavior and lifestyle also changed "completely" before his parents' deaths, the family member said. He allegedly moved back in with his parents after finishing college and stopped socializing. Flores Semyonov was also diagnosed with a mental health condition, according to other relatives who spoke to police.
"The plants told me they were thirsty," Flores Semyonov allegedly once told his mother after he was found watering plants in the middle of the night.
The police report states that Flores Semyonov discovered his father had been cheating on his mother and became upset with his mom because she had not left him, according to AZFamily.
Authorities believe Flores Semyonov fled the United States but have not disclosed where they think he went or how they determined he left. The U.S. Marshals Service District of Arizona is leading the search for him. He was wanted for first-degree murder and other charges.
"Flores Semyonov is wanted on a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and by the Avondale Police Department on charges of first-degree murder – dangerous, domestic violence, and abandonment or concealment of a dead body," a U.S. Marshals press release says. "Flores Semyonov is alleged to have murdered his parents, concealed their remains in the backyard of their Litchfield Park residence, and fled the United States."
