A woman in Indiana was asleep in bed with her boyfriend when her "obsessed" roommate walked in, smiled at her, and shot them both, according to authorities.

Chandron Clark, 64, was charged with murder in the death of 44-year-old Jason Griffin, per Marion County court records reviewed by Law&Crime. The defendant also faces an attempted murder charge, with records indicating he plans to plead guilty on Friday.

On Nov. 15, 2025, Griffin and his girlfriend were at her home on the 1700 block of Union Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. The woman lived with Clark, who she said was "really obsessed" with her and jealous of her new relationship.

As the couple slept, Clark walked into her room, smiled and pointed a gun at her, and then fired, according to court documents cited by local NBC affiliate WTHR. Griffin then woke up, and Clark shot him multiple times, authorities said.

The woman apparently ran into a bathroom as Griffin said to "call 911." One of Griffin's family members was also in the home, and he said he heard the two victims yelling for help and seemingly "begging for mercy," per the court documents.

"The attacker didn't talk at all," this witness reportedly added to police.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) responded to the home just before 1 p.m. that day, the law enforcement agency told Law&Crime. Clark apparently said he tried to shoot and kill himself, but the gun misfired.

Police rushed the two victims to the hospital, where Griffin was pronounced dead. The woman was later listed in stable condition, police said.

She reportedly said of the suspect, "He shot me once, but he was mainly aiming at my boyfriend." She also told investigators that Clark was a meth user.

Police arrested Clark at the scene, and they say he told officers that Griffin and the woman "had to become casualties because they didn't fit his plan of what a perfect society should be."

Clark is also expected to be sentenced on Friday, according to court records. Under Indiana law, he faces 45 to 55 years in prison for the murder charge and 20 to 40 years if he's convicted of attempted murder.
