A 44-year-old Florida dad said "I f—ed up" after his 3-month-old daughter, whom he left alone on a mattress as he watched YouTube videos in the living room, rolled off a bed and died in early September, according to local cops.
Kevin Dorgan was at his Cocoa Village Courtyard Villas apartment on Sept. 5 with his 3-month-old daughter KD and 2-year-old daughter FD when he admittedly placed the younger child on a mattress on the floor —even though he knew he "should not have done that" and should have instead placed the infant in the pack-and-play right next to the bed, the Cocoa Police Department alleged.
Cops said Dorgan was the one who called 911 and told them they he and the kids had not long ago gotten home from Arby's after dropping off their mom at work. He said that his youngest child was face-down and not breathing at home.
Authorities said they responded to the scene and the suspect told them he was watching YouTube videos, as he typically does, while the infant was in the bed.
Dorgan allegedly said that he found the victim face-down on the floor in between a mattress and concrete wall some 15 minutes after checking on her. As the affidavit put it, he claimed that he called 911 right away after realizing that the 3-month-old "looked really bad." He said his 2-year-old child had been "whining" about putting an Elmo show back on. After he did so, he went into the room where the 3-month-old was on the bed and immediately knew that he "f—ed up," the affidavit said.
According to the suspect's alleged timeline, he placed the baby on the mattress around 6 p.m. on Sept. 5. But according to cops, his 911 call didn't come in until 8 p.m. that night.
The affidavit said Dorgan let investigators look at his browser history. That allegedly turned up evidence of numerous browser searches from 5:57 p.m. all the way up to 7:56 p.m. — five minutes before the 911 call.
"The suspect stated he always leaves the victim in the bed while he plays his YouTube videos. The suspect stated he watches the YouTube videos at his desk, which is located in the living room. The suspect stated he cannot see either of the children from the living room and only checks on them when they start whining," the affidavit said.

The victim's mother and Dorgan were both interviewed by cops on Oct. 7.
"The mother stated the victim is always on her back and has not yet learned to roll over," the affidavit said. "She also stated the victim does not yet know how to crawl and turn over on her own."
The woman said she believed the baby's death was an accident.
The suspect, according to cops, said he wasn't paying attention and doesn't check on the kids unless he hears them fussing.
"He placed the victim that he knew was incapable of caring for or protecting themselves on a bed and left the victim for approximately 15 minutes unattended to watch videos on YouTube," the affidavit continued. "He knew there were multiple crib/pack and plays in the residence to include next to the bed the victim was placed on and chose not to place the victim in one which he knew to be the safest option."
"He stated 'he f—ed up' showing consiciousness of guilt," the affidavit concluded.
Dorgan was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
He appeared in court and was held at the Brevard County Jail on a $75,000 bond on Monday. He was ordered not to contact his immediate family members.
