Jhonna'Kaye Parra, 23, faces charges including murder, first- and second-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and first-degree criminal mischief, according to jail records reviewed by Law&Crime.
The man who died has not been publicly identified.
On Oct. 27 at approximately 11 a.m., an officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department tried to pull a vehicle over at the intersection of South 24th Street and Garland Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky. According to police, the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Peru, Indiana, about 190 miles north.
However, the driver, who police allege was Parra, did not stop and instead drove off, local ABC affiliate WHAS reported. As she continued driving, Parra apparently tried to pass another vehicle stopped at a red light, drove through the stoplight and hit a vehicle in the intersection, causing her vehicle to roll over.
At least one other person was in the vehicle allegedly driven by Parra: a man, who police say was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead two days later.
Parra and another woman were also taken to the hospital, with the second woman suffering a broken hip. Two others in the vehicle that was struck were treated and released from a hospital with nonserious injuries, according to the TV station.
The defendant was arrested after she was released from the hospital. Her booking photo shows her wearing a neck brace.
