Footage shows a heckler yelling “womp womp” at a pro-immigrant rally in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday. According to police, things escalated after he got into a confrontation with someone else, and pulled out a gun.
You can see parts of the rally in the footage below.
The man, identified by police as 34-year-old Shane Ryan Sealy, can be seen walking back and forth around the speakers at the “Families Belong Together” rally. The rally was against the Trump’s administration’s “zero tolerance” policy against illegal border crossings, which resulted in the separation of defendants from their children.
“Womp! Womp!” said the man, who was holding up a sign. “Womp! Womp!”
He also sang the hook to Vanilla Ice‘s song “Ice Ice baby,” as a reverend worked through her prayer in spite of the man’s mocking.
It’s worth mentioning that former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski went “womp womp” during a June 19 appearance on Fox News, in response to a story about an undocumented immigrant child with down syndrome who was taken from her mother. Also, ICE is the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal agency that arrests alleged undocumented immigrants.
In any case, things reportedly grew heated at the protest. The heckler was accused of starting a confrontation with a protester, and pushing the person, Huntsville police Lt. Michael Johnson told AL.com. The protester pushed back, and knocked the heckler to the ground, police said. That’s when they said the heckler (allegedly Sealy) pulled out the firearm.
Sealy was charged with menacing and reckless endangerment. Madison County jail records obtained by Law&Crime show that he was released from custody Saturday night. He could not be reached for comment.
Available video doesn’t provide a close up of the confrontation, but footage below shows people responding to what was said to be a man with a gun.
Huntsville City Schools spokesperson Keith Ward told WHNT in a Saturday report that Sealy taught at local Grissom High School for around eight weeks in 2016.
Note: Updated with information about Sealy being released from custody Saturday night.
