Woman leaving divorce hearing sees her soon-to-be ex-husband on his motorcycle in the parking lot and mows him down with car: Cops

An Indiana woman leaving her divorce hearing allegedly accelerated her car and slammed into her husband on his motorcycle before she dragged him across the parking lot.

Adriana Cisneros Velazquez stands accused of attempted murder along with two counts each of aggravated battery and domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, court records say.

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Lake County Government Center in Crown Point in northwest Indiana.

A witness who knew Cisneros Velazquez said he observed her driving erratically in her Honda. He told cops he saw her "accelerate and directly aim" at the motorcyclist, the affidavit stated.

The motorcyclist flew into the air after Cisneros Velazquez hit him, deputies allege.

Cisneros Velazquez then crashed the car, which became immobilized. She allegedly exited the car with a knife and attacked him. She stabbed him in the left bicep before he disarmed her, cops said. Witnesses separated the two. Both were taken to the hospital.

The victim explained in an interview with investigators at the hospital that the two had just attended a divorce hearing. He was set to leave on his motorcycle when he spotted Cisneros Velazquez in her Honda. He said he didn't want to drive in front of her, so he was going to let her pass him.

That's when cops say Cisneros Velazquez "suddenly accelerated and struck him." The victim stated he was "dragged by the vehicle for a short period of time before freeing himself," the affidavit said. In addition to the stab wound, he suffered a wrist sprain along with several scrapes and cuts from being dragged by the vehicle, per cops.

Surveillance video from the parking lot confirmed witness and victim accounts. Cops also recovered a retractable knife at the scene.

Cisneros Velazquez declined to speak with detectives. She remains at the Lake County Jail without bond. Her next court date was not immediately listed.
