A Wisconsin teenager who was "p—ed" at his mom after she "deleted rap videos off of his YouTube" — attacking her with a 2-foot-long hedge trimmer — will be prosecuted as an adult after attempting to get his charges moved to juvenile court, a judge ruled this week.
Ramone Waupoose, 17, is accused of slicing his mother on her face, head, arms and back inside their home in July 2025. He is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon and first-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon, according to online court records.
In Wisconsin, children between the ages of 10 and 16 are automatically charged in adult court for attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
"I feel my son will get the best treatment in juvenile court," said his mother, the victim, during a Tuesday court hearing covered by local Fox affiliate WLUK.
Prosecutors insisted that there are treatment options available in the adult court system that could work. The judge overseeing Waupoose's case said the treatment Waupoose would get in the juvenile system was "inadequate" given the seriousness of the offense and his needs, WLUK reports.
A criminal complaint obtained by the local outlet states that the mother told police she was "freaked out" by her son's behavior leading up to the stabbing attack at their Suamico residence.
Prosecutors say Waupoose went after his mom with a hedge trimmer after being returned home by authorities for running away two days earlier. "Ramone was 'super uber uber p—ed' that he was snatched back," the woman allegedly told cops.
"He was also mad that I had deleted rap videos off of his YouTube," she said, according to the complaint.
Waupoose's mother alleged that her son's behavior became concerning and he started acting hostile toward her.
"Ramone went back to his room and I again texted him about going to eat and asked if he was going to come. He replied back 'no,'" she allegedly told cops. "I told him to not leave the house and I monitored him through the cameras."
Over the next day, Waupoose was acting "creepier" and more suspicious, according to his mother. "When he ate he was pacing like a caged tiger," his mother said, noting how she "started to gather up all the knives, any sharp kitchen utensils, or anything sharp," according to the complaint. She also took a drill and other tools and locked them in her car.
"I watched the cameras and saw Ramone go to the garage and was searching for something," Waupoose's mother allegedly said. "He was looking around the toolbox and a mattress that was leaned up next to it. His whole behavior really freaked me out. The shears he found must have been behind the mattress."
Waupoose allegedly attacked his mom with a 2-foot-long set of pruning shears. Officers investigating the scene observed blood near the shears. Waupoose allegedly lured his mother to an electrical box inside their home after turning off the power to the residence. The woman managed to escape with her 12-year-old son, Waupoose's brother, after running out of the home and driving away, according to the complaint.
Prosecutors say Waupoose had messages on his phone about killing his ex-girlfriend and plans to send a video of him killing his mother and brother.
The teen is due back in court on Oct. 27 for a status conference.
