Inset: Rebecca Beard. Background: Beard when she allegedly failed field sobriety tests while picking up her daughter from an elementary school in Palm Coast, Florida (Flagler County Sheriff's Office).

A Florida mom allegedly drove to her daughter's elementary school to pick her up with a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit — and was too intoxicated to write the girl's name legibly, officials say.

Rebecca Beard, 28, is facing a driving under the influence charge, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

On Thursday, a staff member at Wadsworth Elementary School in Palm Coast contacted the school resource officer after Beard showed up to the front office to pick up her daughter.

"School staff reported the woman struggled getting in the door, had slurred speech and glassy eyes, and could not legibly write the name of the student she was trying to sign out," the press release said.

Deputies walked up to Beard. She allegedly had slurred speech and smelled of booze. Beard claimed she took prescription medication the night before and was tired.

"Am I in trouble?" she asked them, body camera footage showed.

A deputy told Beard that she was unable to drive, but the defendant insisted that she could. Cops then made her complete field sobriety tests, which she allegedly failed.

Surveillance video also showed her driving erratically as she entered the parking lot, deputies said.

After she was taken into custody, she took breath tests, which allegedly indicated a BAC of 0.298. The legal limit is 0.08.

"This woman endangered all the drivers on the roadway, children and cars on the campus, and had planned to pick up a student and try to drive home drunk, once again endangering everyone," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. "I am thankful that school staff was vigilant and alerted the SRD and deputies so they could intervene. This is a great example of 'See Something, Say Something' in action and our school staff and deputies working together to keep our children safe."

Beard was booked into the Flagler County Jail, where she has since posted a $1,000 bond. Her next court date was not immediately listed.
