Two people in Alabama are behind bars after authorities say a 20-year-old man was shot to death and another victim was injured outside a McDonald's restaurant.
Ernesto Pablo, 20, has been charged with capital murder in the death of Isaiah Hosanna, as well as attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, the Birmingham Police Department announced on Wednesday. An unnamed 17-year-old boy was also arrested in connection with the shooting, though his charges are unclear.
Police said the teenage suspect was brought to the Birmingham City Jail "and placed on a 48-hour Felony Extension."
On Sept. 28, Hosanna was allegedly at the McDonald's located on the 2200 block of Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama. The city is Alabama's largest and is located in the north-central part of the state.
Police said they believe Hosanna and others had planned to meet someone outside the restaurant, according to local Fox affiliate WBRC. When the meeting finished, one of the suspects allegedly fired a gun, striking Hosanna and another person.
At about 9 p.m., police were called to the McDonald's about a shooting. Responding officers reportedly found Hosanna in the parking lot, and though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead at about 9:30 p.m.
Windows of the fast-food restaurant were shattered.
Police described the other victim's injuries as "non-life-threatening." The purpose of the meeting was not immediately made clear.
Pablo and the teenage suspect were arrested on Tuesday in the 2100 block of Westmead Drive Southwest in Decatur, Alabama, about 80 miles north of the crime scene.
The teenage suspect was placed into the Birmingham City Jail, while Pablo was booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
