Man found dead at Costco gas station after being run over by a car was murdered: Police

A California man who was found dead in the parking lot of a gas station may have been the victim of foul play.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office announced in a press release that Abba Bryski, 35, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in connection with the death of a 28-year-old man. According to police, deputies responded to calls about a man being struck by a car at a Costco gas station in Camarillo, California, on Tuesday night.

Police said witnesses identified the driver of the car as Bryski, who was detained at the scene.

The 28-year-old victim was not identified by name, but Los Angeles-based ABC affiliate KABC reported that he was a resident of Modesto, California. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death, but detectives with the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau are investigating the man's death as a homicide.

Details about what led up to the alleged confrontation between Bryski and the victim were not provided by police. According to jail records, Bryski is employed as an educator and a rabbi.

Bryski is currently in custody at the Ventura County Main Jail, where he is being held on $3 million bond. In addition to being charged with murder, he is also charged with resisting an executive officer. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
