A 63-year-old Florida man allegedly tried to bust down the front door of a random home while making threats before he walked around back and started to bang on the sliding glass door, making the people inside fear for their lives.
Kevin John Moss stands accused of attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday in New Smyrna Beach. The homeowner, Judy Lewis, told cops she was sitting on her couch in the living room when she heard someone outside trying to open the front door.
She asked her son to go see what was going on and he looked through the window and saw a shirtless man later identified as Moss making death threats and a "finger gun" gesture while yelling "boom, boom, boom," a probable cause arrest affidavit said.
A Ring video recording also apparently captured Moss shouting, "I'm going to shoot your a— up, motherf—er."
Moss wasn't done, according to police.
Cops say he went around to the back of the house and tried to break through the sliding glass door.
"He hit it so hard, a vase on the windowsill fell off into the sink," Lewis recalled to local Fox affiliate WOFL. "That suspense was like something out of a horror movie. He was out of control, he was crazed. At that point, I thought we were gonna die."
He also allegedly tried to open the door to the kitchen.
It's unclear why Moss allegedly targeted the home.
Lewis called 911 and cops arrested Moss after spotting him nearby. He was taken to the Volusia County Jail, where he has since posted a $10,000 bond. His next court date is set for Aug. 18.
