A man in Nebraska has learned his fate for shooting at another driver's car during a road rage attack in which he threatened to "put" the victim "on a T-shirt."
Trevor Masters, 36, was charged with discharging a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle, Douglas County jail records reviewed by Law&Crime show. He pleaded no contest to the charge, the Omaha World-Herald reported, and he was subsequently sentenced to four to eight years in prison.
As part of the deal, four other charges were dropped.
On March 20, Masters was outside a convenience store in the area of South 144th and Harrison streets in Omaha, Nebraska. It was about 6 p.m., and another man was also in the area.
The other man tried to turn onto Harrison Street when he realized he was in the wrong lane, according to authorities. He tried to switch lanes, but Masters, in a Ford pickup truck, apparently did not let him in.
The men started arguing, with Masters reportedly warning that he had a gun and "will put you on a T-shirt."
"Go get your gun then," the other man is said to have replied as he started to leave the parking lot. Masters then fired at the other vehicle, shattering its rear windshield, authorities said.
The defendant proceeded to get in his truck and drive away. Police later tracked the vehicle to Masters' lawn service and arrested him the next day, per the local newspaper. He apparently confessed to firing his gun, and in court this week, he apologized.
Masters reportedly remained in jail after he was arrested, and the judge gave him credit for 215 days served. He will be eligible for parole after serving 3 1/2 years.
