‘Very Disappointing and Very Unbelievable’: Parents Outraged After Man Allegedly Projects Porn on Garage Door

A Virginia man is facing criminal charges–not to mention complaints from disturbed neighbors–after he allegedly had an outdoor porn screening at his home. Antonio Smallwood, 41, was accused of using a projector to show adult entertainment on his garage door Wednesday evening. Police showed up after the incident was reported to 911.

“Very disappointing and very unbelievable that somebody would be that bold to show something like that, openly, in a family neighborhood with kids playing around,” neighbor Marquita White told local ABC13.

White’s 12-year-old daughter was glad she did not see any of the video.

“That would have been nasty and I would have told my mom to call 911,” the girl said. “No one should have that on their garage door, if they want to watch that, they should watch that inside.”

While the 12-year-old didn’t see the video, parents in the area did, and were able to confirm to the local outlet that the video was a professionally made pornographic movie. When they saw it, they immediately had their kids go inside.

“My younger one isn’t even in the idea of being talked to about those kinds of things,” one neighbor said. “The fact that she could see it and not even understand what’s happening.”

Smallwood has apparently been known to exhibit unusual behavior in the past.

“He’d often come out of his house shouting, screaming random things,” one person said. “Two months ago he came out and started a bonfire in his driveway.”

In a letter to Law&Crime after the initial publication of this report, Smallwood insisted that not only did he not do this, but that he was not arrested for “obscene sexual display,” as was reported. He said that “the police officer ‘bodycam’ will confirm that.”

A spokesperson for the Newport News Police confirmed to Law&Crime, however, that Smallwood was arrested and charged for this and other charges. In a statement, the spokesperson said:

On February 6, 2019 at 7:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of 79th street in reference to a complaint of pornographic material being displayed. Upon arrival, the officer observed a movie involving sexual activity being projected on the garage door of the residence. The officer attempted to serve the owner with a summons but he, Antonio Smallwood, a 41, year old Newport News man refused to sign the summons. Therefore, he was arrested and charged with: Obscene Sexual Display and Obstruction of Justice without Force or Threats.

Smallwood did confirm that he is the person pictured in the mugshot attached to the story, which was provided by the Newport News Police.
