Dad refuses to come back home after cops tell him his 2-year-old daughter has been yelling for help on their balcony: Police

A little girl in Colorado was found calling for help from a second-floor balcony — wearing a diaper and nothing else — after her father ditched her to go get food, cops say.

The Boulder Police Department released body camera footage on Facebook showing officers climbing up to rescue the 2-year-old girl after a neighbor reported hearing her cries for help.

"The call came in just after 10:30 p.m. … about a child, wearing only a diaper, standing alone on the second-floor balcony calling for help," BPD officials said in the caption. "Officers raced to the scene, not knowing what they might find. They couldn't get an answer at the locked front door, and the child was too young to open it."

Officers climbed a fence and got on top of their patrol cars to reach the balcony and found the child unharmed. "However, she was too young to be alone," the BPD caption said.

The girl was found last Tuesday around 10:30 p.m., according to police. Cops discovered a "large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia" within her reach on a coffee table inside the home.

"Officers were able to identify and call her father, who said his daughter was asleep when he had walked to get some food," according to BPD officials. "He refused to return when talking to officers."

Police changed the child's diaper, helped her get dressed and brought her back to BPD headquarters "where they cared for her" until they contacted her mother, according to the BPD Facebook post. They then drove the child to her mom's home in Denver.

The following night, police found the dad — who has not been identified publicly — at a Boulder bar with "nearly 15 grams of cocaine in his pockets" and "a large amount of cash," according to BPD officials.

While being taken into custody, the dad was caught on body camera telling his arresting officers, "Y'all are f—ing too good at your job, man."

Police have not said what charges the man faces, only that he has been arrested.

"We're glad this sweet child wasn't hurt and we hope she only remembers the kindness of everyone who helped her this week," BPD officials said.
