'I had no road rage': Driver who shot woman for having the audacity to pass him on the highway now admits guilt

A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to a slew of charges after he shot a woman in an apparently unprovoked road rage incident as she was passing him on the highway.

Christopher Corbi, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault along with misdemeanor assault and weapons charges. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped the most serious charge of attempted murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 29.

The victim told a local TV station after the shooting that she felt lucky to be alive.

"I had no road rage," victim Kathryn Runner told Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI. "I didn't, like, honk at him, I didn't flip him the bird. I didn't do anything to him. What gets me is a lot of cars passed him. What made him choose me?"

Newtown Township police said officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 2025, for a shooting in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. When cops arrived, they found Runner suffering from a gunshot wound to her left wrist.

Runner said she was driving when she came up on a vehicle driving slowly. She followed several cars that were passing the car.

"As I went around, I just saw something shiny in the corner of my eye, so I look over and I saw the barrel of the gun and then my window popped and then I saw the hole," she told the TV station.

The victim called 911 and began following the car to take down its license plate number. Suddenly, the driver of the car made a hard turn onto another road before allegedly firing two more shots at her. This time one of the bullets hit her. Runner said she felt her fingers go numb and realized she was shot.

"I definitely was screaming at the 911 operator that he's shooting at me," she said.

With the vehicle information in hand, cops found the suspect "within minutes" and took him into custody. Officers also found a gun in the car, the press release said.

Runner received a couple of stitches at the hospital.
