A Wisconsin man accused of fatally shooting his father is headed for trial early next year.
Gregory Juedes, 47, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the shooting death of his father, 74-year-old Daniel Juedes Sr. According to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime, the Juedes' neighbor called police to report a "disturbance with a weapon" at the Juedes' home in Appleton, Wisconsin, at 7:35 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2024. The neighbor told dispatchers that he saw a white BMW leave the home, then return for a while before leaving again.
When police arrived at the home, they smelled gunpowder and found Daniel Juedes dead on the floor of a bedroom.
According to the complaint, the elder Juedes had several wounds in his back and a gunshot wound to his left temple. A total of 14 gold shell casings were found, all engraved with "9 mm LUGER CBC." Police noted several bullet holes in the wall of the bedroom where Daniel Juedes was found. An autopsy determined that Daniel Juedes was shot 15 times.
When police spoke to the neighbor who called 911, he said he saw a man come out of a white BMW with a gun in his hand. According to the complaint, the man walked up to the front door, kicked it down, and went inside. The neighbor said he could hear "yelling and described hearing 10 to 12 gunshots within about [five] seconds of him entering." About five seconds after the shooting, the man left the house. According to the neighbor, the gun was "back in the cycled position so he could see the end of the barrel was sticking out, which told him he 'mag dumped'" whoever he allegedly shot.
The neighbor told police that he saw the man leave the property in the white BMW for a short time before returning and going back inside the house. He then rushed out of the house "in a hurry" and drove away again.
Police said the neighbor told them Daniel Juedes had one son that he knew lived with his father, but that son was on a hunting trip that day. Investigators eventually learned that Daniel Juedes had another son, Gregory Juedes.
Minutes after police learned about the white BMW and the suspect behind the wheel, an officer spotted the vehicle, and the driver was wearing the clothing the suspect was seen in. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the driver indicated he was pulling over by putting on his hazard lights. But instead of stopping, he allegedly continued driving and pulled onto the highway, where a high-speed chase ensued.
According to the complaint, the officer successfully executed a PIT maneuver to stop the driver, who was identified as Gregory Juedes. Police said Gregory Juedes fled on foot until several members of law enforcement physically subdued him and took him into custody. At one point, Gregory Juedes allegedly tried to reach for a lieutenant's weapon.
Gregory Juedes was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after being apprehended by police. According to the complaint, Gregory Juedes had several things to say while in the ambulance and told police, without being prompted, "I think I got him with every round. And then one in the back of the head for good measure."
He then allegedly added, "I went back to check and kicked him in the a— [to] make sure he was down for the count."
Police said they found a Canik TP9SFx firearm in Gregory Juedes' car.
In addition to the homicide charge, Gregory Juedes was charged with fleeing/eluding an officer in a vehicle and resisting or obstructing an officer. His trial date was set for Feb. 7, 2027, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 22, 2027.
