A Pennsylvania man who shot at twin brothers who were waiting inside a bar for their father, killing one of them, will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Daniel Moles, 66, was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and attempted homicide. According to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office, Moles opened fire on 31-year-old Randy Jenereaux and his twin brother Andy Jenereaux on Nov. 13, 2021.
Local NBC affiliate WPXI reported that the brothers were waiting to pick up their father from his job as a cook at Woodpeckers Grub and Pub in Upper Burrell, Pennsylvania.
According to the district attorney, Randy Jenereaux was inside Woodpeckers when Moles "fired two rounds from across the bar" toward both brothers. One bullet hit Randy Jenereaux's beer glass before striking his hand and wrist and lodging in his chest. Andy Jenereaux was not injured.
The twins were able to get back to their car, and Andy Jenereaux attempted to bring his brother to the hospital for treatment. Randy Jenereaux died in the car on the way there. WPXI reported that Moles and the Jenereaux brothers did not know each other, and there was no evidence of any altercation between them at the bar before the shooting.
Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli called it a "painful reminder" that the day Moles was sentenced was the twins' 36th birthday.
Moles was also sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for the attempted homicide of Andy Jenereaux.
