A Nevada man says he "blacked out" and murdered his girlfriend and her two children after she told him her ex-boyfriend was "better in bed" than him, according to police.
Juan Orona, 29, told investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that "when he came to, he was holding his Glock 9mm handgun in the bathroom" and his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, 41, was dead on the ground alongside her children's bodies, according to an arrest report obtained by local CBS affiliate KLAS.
Orona is accused of shooting Flores-Osuna, her 16-year-old daughter Maiya Deleon Flores and 7-year-old son Noah Morales Flores on Sept. 1.
"At approximately 7:10 p.m., LVMPD Communications received a report from a male individual, later identified as 29-year-old Juan Orona, stating he had shot his girlfriend and her two children," a LVMPD press release says. "Orona said he was currently at the Southeast Area Command, and he wanted to turn himself in. Orona provided the address of the shooting saying it occurred at an apartment in the 5100 block of O'Bannon Drive."
According to the arrest report, Orona became angry earlier in the day after seeing Flores-Osuna's vehicle at the same location as a vehicle belonging to her ex-boyfriend. He later confronted her at the apartment where he had been staying, the report says.
The couple had been together for "three to six months," and Orona had helped Flores-Osuna get the apartment and paid the rent, according to the report.
"Juan confirmed he confronted Nohani about infidelity with her Henry and she confirmed she had been having sexual relations with Henry, and he was better in bed than Juan," the arrest report says. "After hearing this Juan stated he blacked out."
Orona allegedly told police he kept the gun for protection in case Flores-Osuna's ex showed up at the apartment intending to hurt him. When asked if he committed the killings, Orona did not deny pulling the trigger but said he could not remember how it all happened.
Orona told police that he remembered Flores-Osuna and the children either yelling at him or coming toward him during the alleged blackout, but he could not provide more details, per the arrest report.
Investigators found 10 spent 9mm cartridge cases at the scene.
Orona allegedly confessed to family members that he lost control of himself after confronting Flores-Osuna, according to the arrest report.
Orona faces three counts of murder with a deadly weapon and firing a gun inside an occupied structure. He is being held without bail.
