Law&Crime Trial Network is seeking experienced videographers and production assistants to work at courthouses nationwide. This is a continuous recruitment job posting for video production professionals. We are expanding our network of freelancers. We work with small production companies and freelance videographers, production assistants, and producers. Our network requires both production assistants and videographers with the necessary equipment. Our ideal candidate is a videographer or PA with a track record of shooting or working on live events, including setting up audio and video. Knowledge of working with sports, news, or live streaming is preferred. Experience in broadcast news, courts, or live sports is a plus but not required. This assignment does not require post production.

Who we're looking for

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up the courtroom for a live feed with audio.
  • Ability to use a Live U or other streaming services to send back a hearing in real time.
  • Must be able to commit to being there for the full length of the trial, which could last for 2 weeks.
  • Courthouse hours (Monday - Friday) are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. You are welcome to work on other projects outside of that time.
  • Uphold and enforce Law & Crime Network’s national standards and practices, editorial and branding guidelines.
  • Complete virtual training on how to properly shoot and frame a trial.

Your responsibilities

Requirements for Success:

  • You must have a camera that is 1080i quality. HD video camera with an SDI output that can be plugged into power.
  • No DSLRs, XLR Audio connection.
  • A set of 3 wireless mics. Expert in audio set-up.
  • Tripod on a fluid head.
  • Ability to record and transfer courtroom footage as a backup.
  • Can work well with local media and courtroom employees in the field.
  • A good communicator with our staff via phone.
  • Knowledge of TVU or Live U streaming devices.
  • Bonus if you can stream on Vimeo or a similar platform from a video feed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and act independently and proactively.
  • Reliable transportation.
