Man smashes FedEx truck into ex-girlfriend's home before chasing her into the street and stabbing her repeatedly: Police

A man in Kentucky is accused of ramming a FedEx truck into his ex-girlfriend's home before stabbing her repeatedly to death.

Dario M. Williams, 35, faces charges including murder related to domestic violence and first-degree burglary, as well as fourth-degree domestic violence and second-degree criminal mischief tied to an unrelated warrant, the Lexington Police Department announced.

The Fayette County Coroner has identified the victim as 34-year-old Candice Lynn Mackie, regional CBS affiliate WKYT reported.

On Thursday at about 10 a.m., the Lexington Police Department received a report of a "commercial vehicle striking a residence" on the 3300 block of Valhalla Drive in Lexington, according to a press release. Officers responded and found a woman — Mackie — "suffering from apparent stab wounds and the vehicle intruding into the residence."

The victim was brought to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead later that day.

Police said they took Williams into custody near the crime scene and placed him in the Fayette County Detention Center.

An arrest citation in the case says Williams purposefully drove the FedEx delivery truck through the garage to confront Mackie, according to the area outlet. The defendant then allegedly chased Mackie into the street before stabbing her several times, according to local NBC affiliate WLEX.

Mackie's uncle told WKYT that she had been living with him for about four months. He said Williams was her ex-boyfriend and had brought police to the home before.

"We had an officer came over here once before where he damaged a mailbox," Emmit Murphy said. "I've always tried to help her, I've tried to help him. Most of the time, like I said, when he gets mad at her, he takes it out on the house."

Murphy said his niece had puncture wounds to the heart, lungs, and liver. He believes the suspect came to the house with the intent to kill Mackie.

A spokesperson for FedEx told WKYT that Williams no longer provides services on behalf of FedEx.
