The Nevada trial of Janet Solander begins this week. She is charged with 46 counts of various forms of child abuse, including sexual abuse, with relation to her three foster children who were later adopted by Solander and her husband. Ironically, Solander had written a book about foster care before she was arrested. Solander’s husband and daughter were also charged in the case.
Dwight Solander pleaded guilty last month to three counts of child abuse with substantial bodily harm. He is free on bail and could be sentenced in May.
Solander could face up to life in prison if convicted.
